Love is not enough
To keep me from falling away
Your grip on me is softened
I no longer hear your name
Love is not enough
All you ever did was love
With no taste of understanding
But with sweet soured romance
Love is not enough
To make me want you always
Now I fear anger is winning
And my guts have suddenly sprung
Love is not enough
I cannot wear a white gown
Or wear your ring on my finger
I do not wish to be bound to you
Love is not enough
I no longer want you here
I need more than just love
Understanding, care and respect

Ah!! What a wonderful set of words… Really, love is not enough.
Those last two paragraphs are taking my heart. Beautiful Dear ❤

Thanks Nimmi, a lot of relationships are stumbling because they feel love is enough, but it isn’t. I’m a witness and it’s hurting 😞

Yes it does, love alone can never be satisfying when in a relationship… I hope we learn to spice it up

Very thought-provoking poem. In my own understanding, love IS care and respect and understanding. You can’t have love and not have these — you only have some imitation.
So what is this imitation love? Habit? (Like, Here we are together so let’s live with it.) Self-centered affection? (Like, I’ll pat your back if you pat mine.) Sexual interest—aka Lust? As the poem is saying, it pays to sit down and consider where we really are and where we want to be.
Good work.

Thanks Christine, a lot of people think it’s just about the feelings, and don’t try to appreciate their partners in a way they feel cared for, but you said it all, love has to come with all these or it isn’t enough…

You broke it all down fine piece, life is never a walk in the park on a sunny day, there will be storms that shake your world almost to the point of loosing ones house but then the sun comes back, yes is painful to have been tossed and blowed by it all, love , I have been there oh so many but still in all I would not trade it in for anything else..please understand that this is my take, I know how you are feeling,I will send you lite, keep writing it helps
